Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Riverside Campus and the High School of ISZL. We offer a broad and demanding academic programme, and an enticing variety of sports, activities and off campus pursuits and trips for your students to experience.

Academically, our grade 8 through 10 students follow the Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate (MYP IB), that provides students with a foundation in a wide range of subjects and the added opportunities for personal growth and differentiation within the curriculum. Thereafter, grade 11 and 12 students pursue either the Diploma Programme of the IB or design courses of study from a range of Advanced Placement (AP) and other High School courses. Our goal is to provide a challenging academic environment that will prepare our students for their academic studies at university while engaging them in the principles of learning; this we believe teaches students to learn to think, learn to learn, learn to collaborate, and learn to be in their world.

Our students are eager to learn, and we extend their learning to experiences beyond the classroom. To this end we have a diverse range of activities from traditional school sports such as soccer, volleyball and swimming and others such as sailing, kayaking and skiing that take advantage of our lakeside location and proximity to the mountains. We also offer choir, Newspaper and Yearbook as "in-house" opportunities.

Because the school is located close to bus and train services, we can easily take regular class trips. Being just a few minutes south of Zug provides us with access to all the amenities of the city and to those in Zurich with its museums, theatres and parks. In addition, once a year, for a week (personal development week), our students have the opportunity to continue their learning in a non-classroom environment and to engage in a meaningful learning experience not normally part of the curriculum. Teachers arrange a variety of trips and activities to encourage learning through direct experience. Students choose an option that best suits their interests and their desire to travel. Past options have included a week-long course on forensic science held at school, a history trip to Rome and Pompeii, an arts trip to London, a photography trip to Venice, and a trip to Andalusia to study Flamenco dance.

We are privileged to be moving from one picturesque location to another, across from the golf course at the lakeside in Hunenberg and on top of a hill looking back to Zug and the lake in one direction and to the mountains Pilatus and Rigi in the other. In fact, you can follow the progress of our building on our website.

Please contact us to find out more about our curriculum and our after-school clubs and activities.
