Our Middle School aims to provide a stimulating, enjoyable and comprehensive subject based programme that will equip students with the skills and attitude to succeed in high school and beyond.
Grades 6, 7 and 8" are a natural and distinct three years in student development -it is the time in which students begin to assume responsibility for their learning.
Teachers and students work closely together for academic progress and to provide social and personal support.
Middle School Curriculum
Our Middle School programme offers students an international framework of academic challenge and life skills appropriate to this stage of adolescence. The subject- based programme is an excellent preparation for high school and life-long learning. In addition to a full range of subjects, all students take part in a one-week field trip, major stage production and a wide range of other activities. Math, science, humanities, English and languages (German & French) art, music, musical instrument, drama, community service, design technology, information technology and physical education are part of the compulsory curriculum for all students in grade 6,7 & 8. Student council, sport teams, choir, yearbook and our out-reach initiatives in Nepal and Ghana are just some of the opportunities in which our students can become involved, develop leadership skills and ‘make a difference'.
The International School of Zug and Luzern models its curriculum on the IB MYP (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme). Our programme consists of thorough study of the various disciplines while accentuating their interrelatedness. Community service is an integral part of the middle school and students will participate in projects both in school and in the wider community. The MYP programme uses five perspectives known as the Areas of Interaction to design curricula, forge links across subjects and to encourage the development of the ‘whole student'.
The perspectives are; Approaches to Learning ( organisation, research and study skills), Community Service, Health and Social Education, Environments and Human Ingenuity (human creativity)
