Learning Support
Learning Support at the Riverside Campus of ISZL encompasses a variety of strategies and meets the needs of students with mild to moderate learning difficulties. Depending on the situation, students are supported either in class (by preference) or through a withdrawal programme. All students in the department follow an Individual Education Programme (IEP), which is written up by a member of the department in consultation with parents and outside consultants where necessary. The IEP is then shared with all teachers of the student in order to most effectively prepare for learning. Students may be given the opportunity for extended time during exams if this is supported by an appropriate psychologist's diagnosis recognised by the College Board and the International Baccalaureate. Subject teachers work closely with Learning Support teachers to differentiate materials and teaching to meet the needs of all students. Some students in the department may not meet the demands of a full ISZL Diploma Programme. These students are then offered the opportunity to study a modified programme leading to an Individual Education Diploma from the school.
