Physical Education (PE)
Equipment and Requirements for PE Lessons
All students must wear ISZL PE t-shirts, suitable shorts or tracksuit bottoms and athletic footwear. Please refer to individual grade requirements below. Students should not bring any valuables to PE lessons.
Early Years 1
No requirements
Early Years 2
- Semester 2: A school team t-shirt (to be purchased in the school office for CHF 15)
- Sports shorts or tracksuit bottoms
- Gymnastic slippers
Kindergarten – Grade 1
- Gymnastic slippers with white/light non-marking soles – for indoor gym lessons
- School team t-shirt (to be purchased in the school office for CHF 15)
- Sports shorts or tracksuit bottoms
- Girls: one-piece swimsuit
- Boys: Lycra swimming trunks – no beach shorts
- Towel
- It is advisable for students in Kindergarten to Grade 1 to have a bottle of water for PE lessons.
Grades 2 – 5
- School team t-shirt (to be purchased in the school office for CHF 15)
- Sports shorts or tracksuit bottoms
- Girls: one-piece swimsuit
- Boys: Lycra swimming trunks – no beach shorts
- Towel
- A separate pair of trainers/running shoes for outdoor lessons
- A separate pair of indoor trainers/running shoes with light non-marking soles for indoor athletics and games
- It is advisable for students to have a bottle of water for PE lessons.
Grades 6 – 8
- School team t-shirt (to be purchased in the school office for CHF 15)
- Tracksuit
- A separate pair of trainers/running shoes for outdoor lessons
- A separate pair of indoor trainers/running shoes with light non-marking soles for indoor athletics and games
- Shorts
- Socks
- It is advisable for students to have a bottle of water for PE lessons.
Jewellery
For safety reasons, the wearing of earrings (including studs), string bracelets or other jewellery is not permitted during sporting activities, PE or swimming. These items are safety hazards not only to the wearer but also to other students and staff as well. If ears are newly pierced, studs may remain in place for a period of 6 weeks only. During this period they must be taped for all physical activities.
Swimming
Illness/Injury
Any student suffering from an injury should provide a note or e-mail from their parent or guardian. The note must provide health information and clearly state the activities in which the student cannot engage. In this case students will participate in the lesson in alternative ways such as video analysis.
