Caring for ourselves and each other Is a shared responsibility
At ISZL we strive to be a healthy, happy and harmonious community in every way. We aim to provide and encourage a healthy lifestyle for our community that fosters a positive sense of wellbeing. The school is a connected community where positive relationships are central to the mission of the school. There is a culture of mutual respect that supports our global community to learn and live together in harmony. Practices that nurture and support the wellbeing of students, staff and parents are deeply embedded into school life.
ISZL recognises that student resilience and wellbeing are essential for both academic and social development and we are committed to the provision of safe, supportive and respectful learning environments.
We provide a curriculum that allows students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to engage critically with a range of areas and issues relating to health and wellbeing.
We nurture in our students a passion for and a commitment to intellectual and personal exploration. ISZL students are part of a community where every student learns at high levels, every student is known and advocated for and every student personalises their learning.
This development of individual and collective wellbeing is underpinned by the ISZL Pastoral Curriculum, which includes a deeply imbedded school wide Personal Development Programme, where students are encouraged to develop self-confidence, positive relationships and the motivation to learn.
A component of the Personal Development Programme is Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), from which students gain an awareness and understanding of personal, social and health related issues that are important to their wellbeing.
An integrated Support Services framework, including Learning Support, English as an Additional Language, Counselling and First Language Programme, enables every ISZL student to reach their full potential.
At ISZL we strive to be a healthy, happy and harmonious community in every way. In a dynamic and thriving school community the demands of school life can impact staff in unexpected ways. Caring for ourselves and each other is a shared responsibility between individuals and the school. We aim to provide and encourage a healthy lifestyle for our staff that fosters a positive sense of wellbeing.

Effective HR processes ensure new staff transition successfully into life in Switzerland and the ISZL community. All members of staff work in collaborative teams and this structure provides collegiality and friendship. Regular meetings and events for staff offer opportunities to have professional dialogue, to socialise and to connect with others.
Personal growth and professional development is well supported in the school through a variety of school and external events.
As a school, we are aware of work place stresses and seek to minimise the impact of these through informed decision making and putting in place supportive resources and structures to benefit staff. Staff ski weekends at our chalet in Wengen, an onsite school nursery for faculty babies and free yoga classes are just a few of our staff wellbeing initiatives.
Our environmental surroundings are outstanding. Vistas over the lakes and Alps, fresh clean air, thousands of kilometres of ski, bike and hiking trails are all on our door step and are a great way to clear the mind and refresh the spirit outside work.
Our positive staff retention rates demonstrate that working at ISZL is a professionally rewarding and personally satisfying life experience!
As an interconnected school, we look at our community as a whole and the wellbeing of our parents is actively nurtured.
Our admissions process is family centric with a strong transition framework, including New Family Orientations, Settling in Seminars, New Family Breakfasts, Technology Support sessions and a Parents' Association sponsored Welcome Fair and Welcome Coffees.
As your family settles into school life, we support your social and emotional wellbeing through an active calendar of social events and an adult education programme.
The generous commitment of the ISZL parents’ organisations ensures that all of our parents have the opportunity to connect with other parents through a range of activities, interest groups and cultural groups. Our regular Parent Education Workshops support our parents in their understanding of our education programmes and ISZL’s Cultural Committee ensures that we recognise, understand and celebrate our cultural diversity.
The wellbeing of our community does not end when a family leaves ISZL. Leavers, whether students, staff or parents, benefit from a strong Alumni programme, to help them stay connected and remain a vital part of the global ISZL family.
The welfare of our children is the school’s paramount concern. All staff believe that our school should provide a caring, positive safe and stimulating environment that promotes the social, physical and moral development of the individual child. We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and Board members, have a full and active part to play in protecting our children from harm.
