First Language Programme

Here at ISZL we believe that the ability to communicate is at the heart of humanity. We are strongly committed to supporting the development of the first languages of all of our students because we believe that first language maintenance is crucial for cognitive development, helps foster cultural identity and enables students to remain in touch with the language, literature, and culture of their family background.

Our comprehensive ISZL First Language Programme offers students the ability to develop their first language skills by following courses within the curriculum and after school. We are delighted to be able to support over 15 different languages by having a committed team of first language teachers coordinated by the First Language Coordinator. We are always looking to expand the programme, so if you are interested in a language class that is not currently listed, please contact us.

ZUG CAMPUS & RIVERSIDE CAMPUS AFTER SCHOOL

We currently have approximately 100 students participating in over 15 different after-school first language classes. We currently offer classes in Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, French, Finnish, Greek, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. All our first language instructors are qualified teachers and are part of the First Language Programme Team.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (ZUG CAMPUS) AND HIGH SCHOOL (RIVERSIDE CAMPUS)

We currently have over 40 students studying their first languages as part of the International Baccalaureate's Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme curriculum. Our popular self-taught first language programme enables our students to be awarded the International Baccalaureate Bilingual Diploma. We currently have students studying Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. All our first language instructors are qualified teachers and many have experience supporting IB students.
