Athletics and Sports at ISZL

About Our Programme

At ISZL, we believe that extra-curricular and competitive sports add to the educational experience and promote the social, emotional and physical development and well-being of our students. The Athletic Department offers a variety of seasonal sports clubs and teams, with regular practices and competition within our sports organisations: Jugend und Sport (J+S), International School Sports League (ISSL), Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS), Sports Council of International Schools (SCIS) and European Sports Conference (ESC).

In the Upper Primary School, indoor and outdoor sports clubs such as cross-country, basketball, unihockey, badminton, swimming, skiing, soccer, volleyball and track & field are part of the after-school activities programme. All students are welcome to join and participate in the seasonal practices and festivals.

In the Middle School, extracurricular sports include soccer, tennis, badminton, basketball, swimming, skiing, track and field, volleyball, softball and golf. Students also are encouraged to participate in recreational clubs that focus on climbing, running, uni-hockey, touch rugby, fencing and yoga.

At the High School, sports are played competitively in soccer, volleyball, rugby, basketball, badminton, swimming, skiing, track and field, tennis, softball and golf teams. Numerous clubs are also organised seasonally and include sailing, kayaking, running, fitness, dance and yoga.

More information about the non-competitive clubs and activities can be found here.

Sports Booster Club

The ISZL Sports Booster Club is a non-profit, parent-led, volunteer organisation that supports our competitive sports teams. The Booster Club promotes sporting events, runs the cafe selling food and drinks and raises funds for our athletes and teams.

Our Booster Club heightens ISZL's school spirit, establishes sports traditions and increases the involvement of students and parents at our games and events. Through these efforts, the Booster Club helps our athletes excel and enjoy their athletics experience. To learn more, please send an email to our Booster Club.
