ISZL Advancement

Welcome to the start of the 2020-21 school year! It has been wonderful to welcome our students back.

For many of us, an outcome associated with the extraordinary events of the last school year was a renewed appreciation of what is most valued and cherished in our lives. The absolute joy expressed by our students when they were reunited with their classmates upon returning to campus last semester reminded us of how much we value our relationships and connection to community. It is with this sentiment and deep levels of gratitude that ISZL will start this school year with in-person learning.

Over the summer, there have been safety measures put in place to allow us to open our campuses. Like all schools in Switzerland, we have been liaising with the Federal and Cantonal authorities over the summer and have undertaken every reasonable measure to limit the risk of COVID transmission. To that end, all parents are kindly asked to take a careful read of our school reopening plan

One of the most obvious changes students will see at school is the widespread wearing of face masks. For High School students, this is compulsory. Middle School students are not required to wear a mask but are encouraged to do so. Staff will be wearing masks where a distance of 1.5m cannot be maintained. Additional hygiene and ventilation measures have also been put in place.

To date, 174 new students have joined our community, resulting in an overall enrolment of 1183 students. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to our new families. The physical distancing measures that are in place will present some unique challenges in connecting with our new families. Fortunately, ISZL benefits from the leadership and efforts of our impressive Parents’ Association who, in conjunction with our community, I know will help to ensure our newest families feel welcome and supported.

Thank you for your continued support. Please know that your partnership in consideration of our students is deeply appreciated. We are thrilled to commence this 2020-21 learning journey with you and look forward to our collective work to ensure we realise ISZL’s vision:  We help every student turn their learning into action, creating the opportunity to stretch themselves further and achieve more than they believe possible.
