Chris Paterson is regarded as a living rugby legend in Scotland. He is the national rugby team’s highest ever points scorer, third highest try-scorer and most capped player for Scotland with 109 professional caps. Chris was capable of playing at wing, fullback or flyhalf and was one of the world’s most accurate goal-kickers - two factors which helped him attain his hefty points total for Scotland (809).

On 11 April, Chris came to ISZL to work with our Junior and Varsity boys rugby teams, giving them the incredible experience of a coaching session with an elite athlete. Chris delivered a number of professional top end drills that were richly complimented with searching questions for the boys to work out the solutions to whilst in gameplay. He delivered with real passion and a natural coaching ability which the boys found easy to relate too.

During a Q&A session in the classroom, Chris was honest and candid on all topics that were asked of him. Insights were given from searching questions covering performance-enhancing drugs, concussion protocol, best opposition, diet and sports psychology. A fantastic morning was capped with the boys enjoying the selfie session and autograph signing.
