ISZL'S Covid-19 Response

Welcome to ISZL's Parent Portal webpage detailing our Coronavirus Response. You can find the latest messages from our Director here. This page will shortly be archived and a new page created for the 2021-22 school year.

How is ISZL keeping our school safe?

Before the start of the academic year, Canton Zug asks all schools to submit a safety concept, setting out how they would seek to minimise the possibility of Covid-19 in our school. This is our safety concept, a document previously referred to as our re-opening plan. It assesses the risks faced by ISZL students, and respects and in some cases exceeds the safety standards expected from the Swiss Authorities. ISZL has been inspected by Canton Zug, most recently in the summer term. The Canton says it is happy with the measures in place.

Here is a video made earlier this year by our Middle School, explaining how the Cantonal testing programme works. We hope it is reassuring for people having the test for the first time.

Boy wearing mask

All staff, Middle and High School students at ISZL should wear masks at all times indoors, unless they are eating or drinking. Here is a guide from our nurses on how to do so safely:

  • Change your mask or face covering during the day should it become wet/soiled.
  • Wear a cloth mask for a maximum of one day and then wash or air dry it for a minimum of 72 hours before reusing it.
  • Try not to touch your face whilst you are wearing the mask, if you do then please wash or sanitise your hands.

Can my child go to school today?

The Swiss Authorities have released this flowchart which should guide your thinking. You can find our illness and fever policy here. If anyone in your household is having a Covid test, or if you are in any doubt at all, please contact our Nursing Team before coming to school.

If you or anyone in your household is being tested for Coronavirus, please contact our Nursing Team (link above) before your children attend school.

My child has been quarantined - what can I expect?

If your Cantonal Doctor or the school has asked you to quarantine, the school will be in touch to continue your child's learning with tailored support. Should a whole class or Grade close, the Continuity of Learning Plan will take effect.

Quarantine in Switzerland

During holiday periods, we ask ISZL Parents to keep careful watch on the Switzerland quarantine regulations. These can change at short notice and if they change while you are abroad you may not return to school until your quarantine is completed.
