Individuals and Societies

Individuals and Societies

Individuals and Societies challenges students to understand their responsibilities in a changing world and provides opportunities for developing the habits of mind, the character, the values and the commitment needed to make the world a better place. The study of Individuals and Societies at ISZL includes the study of the following: history, geography, economics and global politics.

The study and application of Individuals and Societies gives particular attention to respecting our diverse heritage, traditions and history and an understanding of how human and environmental systems shape each other, past, present and future.
The curriculum promotes the development of inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, empathy and taking action within a personal, local, national and international context. Furthermore, it encourages students to reflect on the multiple dimensions of human identity and experience, and aims to engender a lifelong interest in the humanities.
