English as an Additional Language
meaningful, relevant and responsive to YOUR CHILD'S needs
At ISZL, English as an Additional Language (EAL) support means extra English language support for students in Kindergarten to Grade 10 who come from non-English speaking backgrounds or have been educated in a language other than English. EAL students thrive in our supportive environment where learning is meaningful, relevant and responsive to their needs. We are proud to have a dedicated team of specialist EAL teachers who are at the forefront of international discussion on best practice for EAL students.New students wanting to join Grade 8 -12 who come from non-English speaking backgrounds or have been educated in a language other than English are asked to demonstrate their level of English language proficiency in order to meet the English language requirements for each grade.
At ISZL, our specialist EAL team consistently and carefully monitors EAL student's progress. Students who are new to the English language typically receive support for three to four years.
