Primary School Competitive Sports

At ISZL, we know that sports play a vital role in enhancing the overall educational experience, encouraging social, emotional, and physical development in our students.

Our Athletics Department provides diverse seasonal competitive sports to complement our Activities and Clubs recreational programme. Beyond weekly training sessions, students can participate in two festival-style events with a friendly competitive atmosphere.

  • Jugend und Sport (J+S)
  • International School Sports League (ISSL)
  • Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS)
  • Sports Council of International Schools (SCIS)
  • European Sports Conference (ESC)

Active at Every Age

In the Primary School, we compete in two organisations within Switzerland: ISSL and SGIS. Additionally, we provide support through the Swiss “Jugend and Sport” ensuring high quality physical education and promoting healthy, active lifestyles among youth.

In Grades 2–5, we offer indoor and outdoor sports such as cross-country, basketball, badminton, swimming, skiing, football, volleyball, and track & field. All students are encouraged to join and enjoy seasonal practices and events.

A Wide Range of Sports

Our Athletic Department provides a wide range of seasonal sports clubs and teams, offering students regular training opportunities and the excitement of competing in matches and tournaments in Switzerland and beyond.

To support our student athletes in developing their skills year-round, we offer optional off-season training programmes for select sports. These are available for a fee and designed to complement the competitive season. For example, our Fall and Spring Swim Training sessions help students prepare for the Winter Swim Team.
