Discover What Sets ISZL Apart

ISZL is an award-winning co-educational day school in Central Switzerland, founded in 1961. As an International Baccalaureate® world school for students aged 3 to 18, we offer a comprehensive and rigorous academic programme that connects students to the world around them. Our vibrant, multicultural and caring community fosters a deep sense of well-being.

During our time at ISZL we were greatly appreciative of the open door policy, nurturing environment and friendly professional communication at the Middle School. Our boys have learned invaluable experiences, gained lifelong skills and made wonderful friends.

Why Families Choose ISZL

A World-class Education Programme

Our learning community offers an exceptional educational experience. As an International Baccalaureate® (IB) World School, ISZL offers the Primary Years, Middle Years, and IB Diploma programmes. In addition, students in Grades 11 and 12 have the option of taking Advanced Placement® (AP) courses and exams. ISZL has been accredited by the prestigious and respected Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Diverse & Supportive Community

We encourage a supportive environment where friendships, family, and the wider community play an essential role in students’ development. At ISZL, we strive to make you feel supported and connected right from the start. From parent clubs to our friendly weekly Coffee Corner, we work hard to ensure you receive the guidance and support you need as a new family. Our Parents’ Association (PA) are core to our community, offering social connections and a listening ear to help your family settle in.

A Holistic Education With Extracurricular Sports, Activities, Clubs & Healthy Meals

We believe in a holistic approach to educating your child. Our Athletics programme focuses on developing physical skills, teamwork, and self-awareness. Extracurricular sports include soccer, tennis, basketball, swimming, skiing, track and field, volleyball, softball, and golf.

Students can also join recreational clubs like climbing, running, uni-hockey, and yoga. All school divisions offer a variety of over 30 different clubs and activities to suit students’ interests. We also provide healthy meals through our optional Hot Lunch Programme for all students. Our chefs prepare new weekly meal plans with low sugar, saturated fats, and salt. The food is cooked on-site and available daily.

Where Our Students Go On To Study

Students at ISZL consistently perform well above the world average on external examinations. Our students demonstrate how ISZL, as a non-selective school, offers an extraordinary educational programme.

Admissions FAQ

Does my child have to join ISZL on a specific date such as the beginning of the school year?

No. Provided we have space available, your child can begin school as soon as the admissions process is completed and a place has been offered. We prefer, however, that students enter the school at the start of a term where possible.

Does ISZL run waiting lists?

We enrol students throughout the school year according to the needs of internationally mobile families. Early application (by February) is recommended for entry at the start of the academic year in August as many grade levels are full and have waiting lists.

Is my child required to take an entrance exam?

ISZL does not require a formal entrance exam. However, students applying for mid-year entry in Grade 7 or higher, who don’t speak English as a first language or lack enough academic English experience, may need to take a language test.

How can my child get to and from school?

Some parents drive their children to school themselves, others use our school bus service. Our fleet of 35 blue school buses serves students across more than 20 routes and 200 stops, offering a shared, fixed-route option to our Zug campus for Primary and Middle School students. Operated entirely by ISZL, our buses are driven by trained staff who comply with Swiss driving and child safeguarding regulations, ensuring a secure and dependable experience for every student.
