A New Chapter for ISZL: Behind the Scenes of Our New Website

We believe that learning spaces should reflect the world our students are growing into: connected, creative, and full of opportunity. To support our students today and into the future, we’re investing in something special: a purpose-built Middle School designed for students aged 11 to 14.
This new campus will unite our Grade 6–10 IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) on a single site, providing a more cohesive and enriched learning journey. While Middle and High School students will share access to world-class facilities such as a dedicated assembly and performance space and a specialised library and media hub, both schools will maintain their distinct identities and learning environments.
Our new Middle School will be built on a 6,000 m² plot of land adjacent to our High School in Hünenberg. Thoughtfully designed, the building will feature open, collaborative spaces, abundant natural light, and environmentally responsible elements that align with ISZL’s values and approach to learning.
On our High School campus, we’re also planning to expand the existing cafeteria, which already serves around 450 meals each day. The new design will provide more space to gather, share meals, and connect.
Another key part of this project is the addition of an underground car park. This will significantly reduce surface traffic and open up more outdoor space for learning, play, and community life, giving our students more room to breathe, grow, and explore.
The design vision is being brought to life through a collaboration between two architectural teams:
From energy-efficient lighting to green spaces and rainwater collection, this building reflects our commitment to sustainability and care for the planet.
Every classroom will include moveable furniture, writable surfaces, and built-in charging stations. Whether students are working independently, in small groups or as a class, they’ll be able to shape the space around them.
Shared spaces can also be transformed — from a quiet reading area to a workshop or group project zone — so students can learn in ways that work for them.
All classrooms will include the latest tools, like interactive whiteboards and projectors, to support engaging and collaborative learning.
Natural light, fresh air and good ventilation help students feel energised and focused throughout the day. We’re also creating dedicated zones where students can come together, share ideas, and solve problems in new ways.
The outdoors will be part of everyday learning. With space to move, explore and connect with nature, students will benefit both in the classroom and out.
Throughout the construction of our new Middle School, we’ll be sharing key milestones and progress updates on our dedicated project webpage, as well as behind-the-scenes moments across our social media channels so you can follow the journey as it unfolds.
