A New Chapter for ISZL: Behind the Scenes of Our New Website

It takes a village — and ISZL has built one.

After more than a year in the making and hundreds of hours of collaboration across departments, divisions, and voices from across our community, we’re proud to launch our brand new ISZL website.

This website was redesigned to better reflect our story, capturing who we are today as a dynamic Swiss international school grounded in a strong mission and vision, and connected through community.

Our Vision

We knew the new website had to go beyond looking good or functioning well, it had to feel like ISZL. That meant designing a space that puts our people and our community at the centre of the experience. Academic excellence has always been part of our story, but so is the sense of belonging that we are recognised for, and the new website needed to reflect both.

Listening First

The foundation of this project was listening. We listened when our community told us our existing website was unintuitive and difficult to navigate. We listened in focus groups and spoke one-on-one with parents, staff, and alumni. We listened when we asked: What do you love about ISZL? What’s missing online? What would make your experience better?

The answers were honest, but equally as thoughtful. One parent shared “We want to see what ISZL feels like through photos, videos, and stories.” Another added, “It takes a village — and ISZL has built one.”  These conversations affirmed our decision to focus on people, connection, and belonging, and that these values needed to be reflected in every part of the website.

The Design Process

To bring our vision to life, we partnered with The Web Kitchen, an award-winning digital design agency based in London, England. Together, we created a new online visual identity for ISZL that feels fresh and true to who we are.

We moved away from our previous blue-heavy colour scheme to a broader palette that celebrates the diversity and energy of our school. Fonts, layouts, and imagery were carefully chosen to feel modern, clear, and accessible.

Key Features of the New Website

The result is a website that not only looks beautiful, but also works better for visitors. Some highlights include:

  • Simplified Navigation
    • Whether you’re a current parent looking for school hours, or a prospective family exploring curriculum pathways, you can now find what you need quickly and intuitively. Compared to the previous version, where key documents were hard to find and much of the content was text-heavy, the new site is streamlined, interactive, and accessible to visitors from diverse language backgrounds.

  • Visual Storytelling
    • Life at ISZL is about so much more than what happens in the classroom,” one community member told us. The new site puts that idea front and centre, with engaging photo galleries, student stories, and immersive video content that brings learning, and life, at ISZL to the forefront.
  • Celebrating Our Campuses
    • Set in one of the most breathtaking regions of Switzerland, our campuses are something special and what set us apart — and we should be celebrating that! The new website highlights these spaces, including our Chalet Bergheim in Wengen. Visitors can now explore what makes our learning environment so unique.

  • Living Our Values
    • We often say, “We are all ISZL.” This phrase captures the inclusivity and shared purpose that runs through everything we do. Our new website reflects this, with language and imagery that celebrates the strength of our diversity.

Always Evolving 🚀

While we’re excited to share this new website with you, the journey doesn’t end here. Like our school, the website will continue to grow and evolve in response to community feedback and school needs. We value your input, big or small.

Thank You!

To everyone who shared their feedback, participated in interviews and testing, joined focus groups, or supported the project behind the scenes: thank you. Your voices shaped every step of this process.

And a special thank you to our design partners at The Web Kitchen, whose creativity and care helped us build a digital home that feels true to ISZL.
